Subject: Tatkal booking to start at 10 a.m. from July 10

 

From July 10, 2012 reservation of tatkal tickets will start from 10 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. and no authorised agents will be allowed to book them during the first two hours, the Railways on Friday said.

“Railways have decided that from July 10 booking of tatkal ticket will start at 10 a.m. on the previous day of journey from train originating station instead of 8 a.m. at present,” said a Railways statement.

The move is being initiated as part of revamping the tatkal scheme amid increased complaints from passengers about touts making good of the loopholes in the schemes and selling tatkal tickets at a premium.

Railways officials felt the development will not only help reduce pressure on counters booking both general and tatkal tickets at the same time, but will also reduce the waiting time of tatkal ticket seekers with the shrinking of the crowd.

The pressure on the e-ticketing site would also reduce considerably. At present, booking for both general and tatkal tickets open at 8 a.m., not only chocking e-ticketing sites but also triggering to long queues in reservation counters.

Officials said separate tatkal booking counters will also be opened soon and CCTV cameras installed to monitor the crowd to check irregularities.

Booking clerks will also be barred from carrying mobiles inside the counters, they said.

At present, tatkal scheme is available in as many as 2,677 trains which translate to around 1.71 lakh berths. In 2011-12, earning from the scheme stood at Rs. 847 crore.

The scheme has seen a several changes in the recent past including reducing the days for reserving tatkal tickets from five days to one day and barring web-based agents from booking tickets during the first hours, but the indulgence of touts has deprived passengers from deriving benefit from the scheme, officials noted.

The digital world is a beautiful thing. Apps boost our productivity and elevate our personal lives. eBooks make reading more accessible and elegant. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter connect us – and allow for the sharing of information in radically new ways. But along with the opening of new frontiers that technology brings, I’m witnessing a closing of something else. We just don’t personally interact in the same ways that we once did. Tempers have grown quicker. Conversations have become shorter. And good manners are becoming obsolete.

People write things online that they’d never dare to say to another human being in person. Critics abound. Cynics flourish. And controversy seems to get more views than simple acts of decency – and humanity. Yes, I completely get I’m painting the world we reside in with some broad brush strokes. Yes, there are massive amounts of people who are polite, kind and awesome. And yes, there are complete communities of individuals interacting impeccably and doing great things. But I just wanted to put a voice to the fact that I see a loss of something as tech dominates our lives. Something simple. Something real. Something essential. We’re losing the way we used to relate to each other.

So, during this month where so many of us are thinking about celebrating the relationships that fill our lives with a depth of richness and joy, I wanted to offer you 6 of the best communication strategies I’ve learned to flourish in business and in life. I encourage you to apply these at home, at work and out on the streets with people you may not even know. As William Penn once noted: “I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.”

#1. Be Real
Call it being authentic. Call it being yourself. The fact is that few things are as powerful as standing in the presence of a person who is really really comfortable in their own skin. What I’m suggesting is that you speak with your unique voice and that you live under your true values and that you present the real you to the world around you. Please trust me on this one. I promise you that when you get to the last hour of your last day, you will regret having lived the life society sold you versus the life that you knew deep within was meant for you.

#2. Smile
Sure this sounds obvious. But what makes greatness is the daily executing around simple ideas. And if smiling during good and hard times was so easy, then why is it so hard for most people? I travel across the planet constantly. But no matter whether I’m in Qatar or Napa, Buenos Aires or Malaysia, Mumbai or Amsterdam, a quick and genuine smile to a stranger always connects. Unites. Uplifts.

#3. Use People’s Names
The fantastic Dale Carnegie taught us well. He observed that a person’s name is the sweetest sound to their ears. And yet, it’s so very easy to forget to go the extra mile and remember – and then use – someone’s name. World-class communicators get that when they address people by name, it brings them closer. And makes them stand out.

#4. Look People In The Eye
Okay. I really need to rant mildly on this one. Sure we all have our smart phones and iPods and PCs. But this new way of communicating where our mouths move while we speak to the person in front of us but our eyes stay on the screens before us sends a message to that person that they just are not that important. The best gift you can give a customer+teammate+loved one is the gift of your presence. In this age of easy digitization, giving the human being you’re communicating with 1000% of your attention is a spectacular method to lead the field. So, look people in the eye. Engage with what they are saying. Make them feel special. No, make them feel–for the brief moments they interact with you – that they are the most important person in the world.

#5. Be Honest
Again, simple, I know. But leadership and success really does come down to the daily doing of a series of fundamentals staggeringly well. Be the most honest person you know. Let your ethics drive your behavior. And please remember, anyone can be honest when times are easy. The true measure of your leadership is how honest you are when everything’s falling apart.

#6. Choose Good Words
I was up in the mountains last weekend. Wanted to get some breakfast. Walked into a new Italian restaurant that advertised breakfast until 11:30 am. It was 11:40. I asked the man behind the counter: “Is it possible to still get breakfast?” His instant reply: “Absolutely not.” Now I understand this man wasn’t trying to be rude. He was most likely unskilled with his words. Just not a great communicator. But his words had impact (as all words do). A more effective communicator could have said, “I wish we could but we’ve just switched over to the lunch menu. I think you’ll love it. C’mon in and give it a try.” It’s all in the languaging. Instead, his words caused me to try his competitor. And to think that this is a restaurant that just doesn’t care that much.

So there you are Great Communicator. Six pretty fundamental yet powerful ways to amp up the impact of your communication during this month focused on appreciating relationships. Try them. Apply them. And innovate around them. Those around you will be grateful you did.

Do Your Part

Big question for you: “what are you doing to help build a new and better world?” Don’t blame the politicians. Don’t blame those around you. Don’t blame your parents or your background. Doing so is playing the victim and this world has far too many people playing the victim when they could be shining and making a profound difference. Mother Teresa said it so much better than I ever could: “if each of us would only sweep their own doorstep, the whole world would be clean.” Nice.

Blaming others is excusing yourself. Telling yourself that you – as an army of one – cannot have an impact is giving away your power. A couple of college kids got their hands on empty school buses and drove them into New Orleans when everybody else said the city was unapproachable. A little man in a loincloth named Mohandas Gandhi freed an entire nation. A college student named Richard Branson took some initiative to start a record label on a shoestring that has since morphed into the Virgin empire. You are no different from them. We are all flesh and bones – cut from the same cloth.

In a recent issue of Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston said that she gives herself one day to play victim after a challenging event. After that day of feeling sorry for herself and powerless, she wakes up and takes ownership over the way her life looks. And if she doesn’t like a piece of it she sets about to change it. That’s personal leadership.

What don’t you like about your life or the organization you work for or the country you live in? Make a list. Write it down. Shout it out. And then do something to improve things. Anything. Start small or go big. Just do something. Today. Now. The world will be better for it.

The Myth of Personal Transformation

Too many people believe that playing their best game as a human being requires them to revolutionalize their lives. And for most of us, that’s a scary thought. No one wants to make massive changes to the way they think, feel and behave. Human beings love staying within the comfort zone. But guess what? In my work as a success coach with people around the world, I’ve realized that lasting personal change does not require you to turn your life upside down.

The best way to get to your greatness is through small, continuous steps-what I call the “1% Wins”. If you improve your health only 1% each day for the next 30 days, you will see a 30% increase in that dimension of your life in only 1 month. Same for every other area of your life, from your relationships to your career. Doesn’t seem so scary now does it? Can you make those little improvements in the areas most in need of improvement? Absolutely.

Get Some Skin in The Game

I fail more than most people. I fail all the time. I’ve had failures in business. I’ve had failures in relationships. I’ve had failures in life. I used to wonder why this happened. But now I get it. Failure is the highway to success. And the more risks you take in the pursuit of your dreams, the more you are going to fail.

Too many amongst us live our lives in what I call “the safe harbor of the known.” Same thinking for twenty years. Same conversations for twenty years. Same breakfast for twenty years. Same drive to work for twenty years. I have no judgment on that kind of a life. If it makes you happy, well that’s a beautiful thing. But I don’t know of anyone who is happy living like that. True joy comes when you put some skin in the game and take some chances. Yes, you will start to experience more failure. But guess what, success also starts to pay more visits.

Failure is just part of the process of getting to greatness. The best companies on the planet have failed more than the average ones. The most successful people on the planet have failed more than average ones. To me, the only failure is the failure to not try and dream and dare. And I deeply feel that the greatest risk you will ever take in your life is if you never take a risk.

So go ahead, stretch today. Ask for the best table in your favorite restaurant. Ask for an upgrade into first class on your next flight (good luck). Ask your teammate at work for more understanding. Ask your mate at home for more love. Do it. I dare you. And just remember, you can’t win the game if you don’t even play.

What is Leadership?

Leadership has nothing to do with the title on your business card or the size of your office. Leadership is not about how much money you make or the clothes you wear. Leadership is a philosophy. It’s an attitude. It’s a state of mind. And it’s available to each one of us.

Here’s an example. I spend a lot of my life on airplanes and traveling so I’m hard on my luggage. The handle on my carry-on luggage broke after my tour of Russia a few months ago (you have to put a visit to St. Petersburg on your list of places to visit before you die). Anyway, I take the piece in to Evex, a dealer in Toronto. The young man at the counter treated me wonderfully and within a few days, the handle was fixed.

While in New York a week ago, the handle broke again. I assumed that I’d have to pay for the repair when I went back into Evex. Most business put clients through so many hurdles: if you haven’t saved the receipt you are out of luck, if you don’t know who did the initial repair we cannot help you etc etc. Well Evex is different. They just get it. They understand that without treating their customers well, there is no business.

When I explained that the handle broke again, the young woman at the counter – without a moment of hesitation – apologized for the problem I faced. She them said: “We will promise you that you will have your carry-on in perfect order within 3 days. And of course Sir, there will be no charge.” No bureaucracy around needing the receipt from the previous repair. No hassles. No issues. Just great service, with a giant smile.

This woman showed leadership. She quickly diagnosed the problem, assumed personal responsibility and made the right decision. And she wowed her customer in the process. What will you do to be the leader that you are destined to be, today?

Interested in a career in animation? Ensure that you have, or can build, creative thinking. In any design field, a person who can explore, look outside-the-box, and do lateral thinking, becomes most successful. Many people do not understand the concept, and only focus on their drawing skills. Drawing is only one part of being a good animator. Developing a mind that can generate new ideas and fascinating visuals, is more important.

What is creative thinking?

Creative thinking is an ability, attitude, and a process. Believe it or not, everyone has substantial creative ability. Just look at how creative children are. In adults, creativity has too often been suppressed through education, but it is still there and can be reawakened.

Thinking out of the box

Creativity is the ability to generate new ideas by combining, changing, or reapplying existing ideas. Some creative ideas are astonishing and brilliant, while others are just simple, good, practical ideas that no one seems to have thought of yet.

Often all that's needed to be creative is to make a commitment to creativity and to take the time for it.

As children we are all capable of thinking out of the box then why is it that as we grow we stop, the reasons could be any of these blocks that we put in our mind as we grow up - Oh no it is a problem, it can't be done, I can't do anything about, I am not creative, that is being childish, what will people think? I might fail.

Example: How to divide a piece of cake equally between your two kids so they won't complain that one kid is preferred over the other: "You gave him the bigger piece; you like him better! Waaaah!"
Solution: Put the kids in charge of dividing the cake. Our prejudice is that immature, selfish kids can't do the job. But the solution, one cuts the cake, the other has first choice of pieces, works very well.

Some more examples: You go to a party or a get-together and are given a glass of juice which is very sweet; what do you do?
You are cooking a tried and tested recipe and are bored; what would you do?
Have to reach a destination and there are four routes to choose from; What do you do?

Characteristics of a creative person

§  curious

§  seeks problems

§  enjoys challenge

§  optimistic

§  able to suspend judgment

§  comfortable with imagination

§  sees problems as opportunities

§  sees problems as interesting

§  problems are emotionally acceptable

§  challenges assumptions

§  doesn't give up easily: perseveres, works hard

Ways we can improve our creative thinking capacities

§  keep track of all new ideas that come to your mind, note them down

§  develop the attitude of having a curious mind and an inquiring mind

§  develop and cultivate hobbies

§  be self-aware

§  try to understand things that might not be important to you now, or not of much relevance

§  be flexible and open to new ideas

§  be alert to look for similarities, differences and the unique features

§  adopt a risk taking attitude

§  develop a Sense of Humour

Don’t just read these points and try to memorize them. Look at each of them critically, then be creative enough to make your own definitions and ideas. Then you know that you are truly a creative person, and will do well in animation or any other related field.

Values and Ethics: in work and at home

The story is attributed to Swami Vivekananda, that a young man who hailed from a rich family and had completed his education, approached the Saint and said, "Swamiji,  every young man only wants to earn, grab and get more and more.  I wish to give to society instead of taking from it.  I need your guidance how to give to society."  The youth was shocked when Vivekananda told him, "Fine.  First go out and start earning some money."  He protested, "I didn't expect you, a sage, to say this to me," and the sage replied, "You can never give away anything unless you have earned it.  Learn how difficult it is to earn, and then decide whether you will give away even a part of it."

 

This highlights the approach that any young and upwardly mobile Indian should take at the threshold of his professional life – develop the capacity to earn, understand its value, and then learn how to spend it wisely.  One need not become an ascetic to find a deeper purpose in life, but one needs to understand the actual benefits of being ethical and upholding the highest of values.

 

I personally learnt this lesson very well when decades ago I was graduating from IIT. The British CEO of a multinational known as GKW had come to interview some of my classmates for campus recruitment.  He casually asked the first one, "How much phosphorus is there in phosphor bronze?"  Despite being a Metallurgist, my friend did not know.  But not wanting to cut a sorry figure, he hazarded a wild guess.  "Around …. 25%, sir?"  The gentleman said, "Yes, absolutely right!" and let him go.  He came out and shared this with seven other classmates who were waiting to go in.  None of them knew the answer.  The Englishman kept asking the same question during his interview to each one of them, and they all parroted the same answer with great confidence.

 

At the end, the CEO came out and addressed the boys.  "Gentlemen," he said, "I would have loved it if you had been truthful and told me that you do not know the answer.  But you copied one after another and tried to bluff me.  I would not like to have people like these interacting with me day in and day out in my company.  Let me tell you, Young Men, that there is NO phosphorus in phosphor bronze, and there is NO job for you in GKW.  Good Day!" and he walked off.

 

What do we learn from this incident, if anything?  Do we realize that if one boy had the courage of conviction to admit frankly that he did not know the answer, he would have landed a cushy job in a multinational company?  These principles may not be taught in many B-Schools, but they do form a part of the business practices of some of the most illiterate but successful businessmen.  Here is a live example:

 

In my childhood I lived in a suburban area where there was not much commercial activity, and people generally drove down another two kilometers to reach the nearest marketplace.  I often used to walk down in my free time to our main road where there were two Chemists' shops side by side.  One of the owners, Mahesh, was friendly with me, and used to encourage me to come and sit with him.  I was puzzled when I noticed that whenever a customer walked in and asked for a medicine which he did not have, he immediately used to tell the customer to go to the adjoining shop.  "Are you not losing business by sending people to your nearest competitor?" I asked him.  Mahesh explained a very simple philosophy – he said that people rarely stop there for shopping, preferring to go to the main marketplace.  If they ask for a medicine, and do not get it, they will not stop by and even ask next time.  If they are sure that their requirement will be met with in either one of the shops, then they will get into the habit of stopping there only – and the business of both shops will flourish.  How many of us have the courage and ability to think so broadly and create a synergy, instead of continuously trying to put down our competitor?

 

Another very fascinating incident I had read about happened in USA.  There was a small shopping mall on the highway, which did quite mediocre business.  A couple of dozen shops, each owned by an independent person, catered to the needs of the few customers who would stop by.  One of the shopkeepers had an accident and became a paraplegic.  He needed a wheelchair to move around.  When his neighbors saw his difficulty, they decided to chip in and make slopes at every curb and step, and ramps at the entrance, so that he could freely wheel himself all over the place.  They thought they were doing a favour to their friend.  What they had not realized was that soon their business grew in leaps and bounds.  People with elderly parents who could not walk much, came pushing them in wheelchairs.  Young mothers found that they can maneuver their babies' prams with ease and handle their shopping bags. Disabled customers drove from miles away since they could shop with dignity.  The simple gesture brought manifold returns to every shopkeeper in the mall.

 

Values, ethics and morals are not just high-sounding norms that one indulges in for some far-away "Moksha" or celestial rewards.  They are sound principles of life, which get considerable returns right here in this world.  Whatever one may say and do, the turtle always wins the race against the hare.  An organization or a manager may get quick returns if he takes short-cuts, climbs over others' shoulders, or puts down his competition – but in the long race of professional or personal life, he is inevitably left behind.

 

As a counsellor dealing with both emotional and career aspects of life, I have often been confronted with people who question where their life is headed, even when they are earning well.  I deal with mid-life crises, burnouts, frustrations, addictions – of people who initially thought that they are on the fast track, and that all is fair in love and business.  It pains me that when there are such fulfilling and rewarding ways to make money and rise up the corporate ladder, often people seek unethical short-cuts.  I look forward to any queries that I may be able to answer, purely from the practical experience of observing, analyzing innumerable people and getting to know them in depth, sometimes even better than they know themselves.  And if you happen to be an ambitious young man or woman, I exhort you to have faith in the highest power that created such a perfectly functioning universe, identify yourself as a part of that unending universe, accept the simple fact that we are all connected through a Vasudaiva Kutumba, and carve out a road less traveled, maybe even a path where none existed.  You will never regret it.

కావాలి ఓ నలుగురు......

సంఘం అంటేనే నలుగురి సంగమం, సావాసం, సహా జీవనం, సముదాయం....
సమాజం అంటేనే ఒకరి కోసం ఒకరు, ఒకరి మీద ఒకరు ప్రత్యక్షంగానో, పరోక్షంగానో ఖచ్చితంగా ఆధారపడే  సమిష్టి జీవనం...

నీకు పాలు కావాలి అంటే పాలవాడి సహాయం కావాలి, సరుకులు కొనాలి అంటే షాప్ వాడు సహాయం కావాలి,  తిండి కోసం రైతు సహాయం కావాలి.....
చెత్త వేరుకొనే వారు, పాకి దొడ్డి చిమ్మేవారు, మంగలి, కుమ్మరి, క్షురకుడు, వ్యాపారి, పని మనిషి, 

పోస్ట్ వాడు, ఫోన్ వాడు, అధ్యాపకులు, గురువులు, తల్లిదండ్రులు, బంధువులు,  స్నేహితులు, 

హితులు, శ్రేయోభిలాషులు.. ఇలా ఎందరో....

ఏదో ఒక సమయంలో సహాయం చేస్తూ నిన్ను నీ తోడుగా వుంది నడిపిస్తున్న వీరెవరు లేకుండా,
 నువ్వు నీ జీవితాన్ని కనీసం ఒక్క క్షణమైనా జీవించగలవా? 

ఒక్క నిముషం అలోచించి...నిన్ను నువ్వే ప్రశ్నించుకో...
నేను ఖచ్చితంగా చెప్పగలను నువ్వు ఉండలేవు....

నువ్వే కాదు...సృష్టి లోని ఏ మనిషి అలా ఒకరి పై ఆధారపడకుండా, 

ఒకరి సహాయం లేకుండా బ్రతకలేడు...
మనిషే కాదు... ఏ జీవి అలా ఆధారపడకుండా జీవించలేదు....
అదే సృష్టి రహస్యం, దాని నిర్మాణంలోని చమత్కారం....ఇదే సంఘ జీవనం...దానికి నిజమైన అర్ధం....

నువ్వు డబ్బులు ఇచ్చి వాటిని పొందుతున్నావ్ అని విర్ర వీగకు...
అవే డబ్బులు నీకిస్తే అ పనులు నువ్వు చెయ్య గలవా?
 సమాధానం నీకే తెలుసు...?

సంఘం అంటే అన్ని రకాల వృత్తుల, వ్యక్తులు సముదాయం..
అందరు కలిసి అరమరికలు లేకుండా ఆనందంగా సాగిపోవాలనే ఉద్దేశ్యంతో నిర్మించబడిన

మన ఆనందాన్ని, సంతోషాన్ని పెంచుకోవడానికి కావాలి ఓ నలుగురు
మనకి సహాయం చెయ్యడానికి కావాలి ఓ నలుగురు
మనం జీవించడానికి కావాలి ఓ నలుగురు
మన జీవన పయనంలో అడుగడున కావాలి మనకి ఓ నలుగురు
చివరికి మనం తనువు చాలించడానికి కావాలి ఓ నలుగురు

కాబట్టి అందరితో మంచిగా వుంటూ, అందరిని గౌరవిస్తూ, అందరికి సయం చేస్తూ ముందు సాగిపో.....నీకు సహాయం చేసే నలుగురిని గుర్తుపెట్టుకో... నీతో కడ దాక నడిచే ఆ నలుగురిని సంపాదించుకో.......

Problems Reveal Genius

Problems are servants. They help you grow and lead to better things, both within your organization and in your life. To resist them is to avoid growth and progress. Embrace and get the best from the challenges in front of you. And understand that the only people with no problems are dead.

An unhappy customer yelling at you might seem like a problem. But to a person thinking like a leader, that scenario is also an opportunity to improve the organization’s processes to ensure that doesn’t happen again. So the problem has actually helped to improve the company.

An interpersonal conflict at work can seem like a problem. But if you think like a leader and use the circumstance to build understanding, promote communication and enrich the relationship, the problem has actually made you better. It has been fodder for your growth and served you nicely.

An illness or a divorce or the loss of a loved one might seem like a problem. Sure it’s painful (been there, done that). But I’ve been shaped by my saddest experiences. They’ve brought me depth, compassion and wisdom. They’ve made me the man that I am. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Problems reveal genius. World-class organizations have a culture that sees problems as opportunities for improvement. A mistake is only a mistake if you make it twice. And world-class human beings use their stumbling blocks as stepping stones. They use their failures to bring them closer to success. They don’t see problems. They see possibilities. And that’s what makes them great.

ద్వాదశజ్యోతిర్లింగాలు (1) Posted: 29 Oct 2011 05:35 PM PDT మహాశివుడిని విగ్రహ రూపంలో దేవాలయాలలో పూజించటం బహు అరుదు. మనకు ఆ భోళాశంకరుడు లింగరూపంలోనే దర్శనమిస్తాడు. అటువంటి లింగాలలో ద్వాదశజ్యోతిర్లింగాలు అత్యంత ప్రసిద్ధమైనవి. అవి.. సౌరాష్ట్రే సోమనాథం చ, శ్రీశైలే మల్లికార్జునమ్ ఉజ్జయిన్యాం మహాకాళమ్, ఓంకారమమరేశ్వరమ్ ప్రజ్వాల్యాం వైద్యనాథంచ, డాకిన్యాం భీమశంకరమ్ సేతుబంధే తు రామేశం, నాగేశం దారుకావనే వారాణస్యాం తు విశ్వేశం, త్ర్యంబకం గౌతమీ తటే హిమాలయే తు కేదారం, ఘృష్ణేశం చ శివాలయే ఏతాని జ్యోతిర్లింగాని సాయం ప్రాతః పఠేన్నరః సప్త జన్మకృతం పాపం స్మరణేన వినశ్యతి. 1. సోమనాధేశ్వరుడు ద్వాదశ జ్యోతిర్లింగాలలో మొదటది "సోమేశ్వర లింగం". ఇది మిక్కిలి ప్రఖ్యాతి చెందిన పురాతనమైన శైవ క్షేత్రం. పశ్చిమ భారతదేశంలో గుజరాత్ రాష్ట్రం (సౌరాష్ట్రం) లోని ప్రభాస పట్టణంలో ఈ ఆలయం ఉన్నది. సరస్వతీ నది ఇక్కడ సాగర సంగమం చేస్తుంది. ఈ సాగర సంగమంలోనే చంద్ర భగవానుడు స్నానం చేసి, శివారాధన చేసి, శాప విముక్తి పొందినాడు. దక్ష ప్రజాపతి కుమార్తెలు నూరుమంది. అందరిలోనూ పెద్ద కుమార్తె "సతీదేవి" శివుని భార్య. మిగిలిన కుమర్తెలలొ 27 మందిని (అశ్విని, భరణి మొదలగు నక్షత్రములు) చంద్రునుకి ఇచ్చి వివాహం చేశాడు. సవతులు అందరిలోనూ చిన్నదగు రేవతి యందు చంద్రునకు మిక్కిలి ప్రేమ యుండుట వలన, మిగిలిన వారు తమ తండ్రికి ఫిర్యాదు చేశారు. అంతట దక్ష ప్రజాపతి చంద్రునకు "క్షయ వ్యాధిని పొందు" అని శాపం ఇచ్చాడు. నారద ముని సలహాతో, చంద్రుడు ప్రభాసమునకు పోయి 40 దినములు శివ పంచాక్షరీ మంత్రాన్ని జపించాడు. అంత పర్వతీ పరమేశ్వరుడు ప్రత్యక్షమై, ఈ ప్రదేశమున శివలింగాన్ని ప్రతిష్ట చేసి, పూజించిన, నీకు శాపఫలం క్షీణించగలదు. మొదటి 15 దినములు నా వర ప్రభావంబున వృద్ది పొంది, తరువాత 15 దినములు దక్ష ప్రజాపతి శాప ఫలంబున క్షీణించగలవు అని తెలియజేసాడు. చంద్రుడికి సోముడు అనే పేరు ఉంది. సోముడు చేత అర్పించబడిన ఈశ్వరుడు కాబట్టి సోమేశ్వరుడు అని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఈ సోమేశ్వరలింగాన్ని పూజించే వారికి సకల పాపములు, క్షయ మొదలగు వ్యాధులు తొలగిపోతాయి 2. శ్రీశైల మల్లికార్జునుడు అష్టాదశ శక్తిపీఠాలలో ఒకటైయిన భ్రమరాంబికాదేవి, ద్వాదశజ్యోతిర్లింగాలలో ఒకరైన శ్రీశైల మల్లికార్జునుడు మనకు శ్రీశైలంలో దర్శనమిస్తారు. దక్షిణ భారతదేశాన, ఆంద్రప్రదేశ్‌లో కర్నూలు జిల్లా, కృష్ణానదీ తీరాన నల్లమల కొండల్లో 'శ్రీశైలం' క్షేత్రం ఉంది. ద్రవిడ శైలిలో నిర్మించిన ఈ దేవాలయం చాలా విశాలమైంది. కోటగోడల్లాంటి అతి పెద్ద గోడలపై కుడ్యచిత్రాలు తీరి వుంటాయి. స్థంభాలతో సహా వాస్తుశిల్పంలో సంపన్నత, దర్పం తొణికిసలాడుతుంటాయి. విజయనగర రాజులనాటి వాస్తుకళకు ఇది నిదర్శనం. మహా శివరాత్రికి, ఉగాదికి, చైత్రమాసంలో జరిగే చండీయాగము, కుంభోత్సవము ప్రధానములు. శివరాత్రినాటి రాత్రి స్వామి వారి ఆలయంపైన ఉన్న శిఖర కలశం నుండి నాల్గు వైపుల ఉండేటట్లుగా మూరెడు వెడల్పు గలిగి - 360 మూరల గుడ్డను కడతారు. దీనినే పాగ చుట్టడం / మంగళపాగా అని అంటారు. ఈ వస్త్రాన్ని రోజుకొక మూర చొప్పున 360 రోజులు నేస్తారని చెప్పుకుంటారు. మంగళ పాగా రాత్రి వేళ లింగోద్భవ సమయానికి నేత ముగుస్తుంది. పాగా చుట్టే మనిషి దిగంబరుడై యుండి ఎవరికీ కానరాకుండా వుంటాడట. తరవాత ఈ మంగళపాగాను చిన్న చిన్న ముక్కలుగా కత్తిరించి ప్రసాదంగా ఇస్తారు. ఇక్కడకు ఇక 3 కి. మీ. దూరంలో కృష్ణా నది ఉత్తార వాహినియై ప్రవహిస్తూ వుంది. దీనిని పాతాళ గంగ అని అంటారు. శ్రీశైల జల విద్యుదుత్పాదక కేంద్రం కట్టిన తరువాత పాతాళ గంగకు వెళ్ళేందుకు గల మెట్లు చాల వరకు నీటిలో మునిగిపోయాయి. అయినా యాత్రికులు పాతాళగంగ - దగ్గరలో వున్న ' లింగాల గట్టు ' వగైరాలను దర్శించుకుని గాని మరలరు. ఆలయం చుట్టూ ప్రాకారం గోడలు చాల ఎత్తుగాను వివిధ గోపురాల్తో శోభిల్లుతుంటాయి. ప్రాకారనిర్మాణానికి వినియోగించబడిన రాళ్ళు సుమారు 20 అ. వైశాల్యంలో దీర్ఘ చతురస్రాకారంలో ఉండి వాని మీద చతురంగ బలాల చిత్రాలు, రామాయణ, మహాభారత కథా చిత్రాలు - భక్త చరిత్రలు - భగవల్లీలలు చెక్కబడి విశిష్టంగా గోచరిస్తాయి. మల్లికార్జున స్వామి వారి ఆలయానికి సరిగ్గా వెనుక భాగంలో భ్రమరాంబా అమ్మవారి ఆలయంలోని అమ్మవారి దృష్టి నేరుగా శివలింగముపై ఉండేటట్లుగా నిర్మించబడింది. ఆది శంకరాచార్యులవారు ఆలయమునకు శ్రీ చక్రప్రతిష్ట చేశారని ప్రతీతి. చైత్రమాసంలో ' అంబ తిరునాళ్ళ ' అని గొప్ప ఉత్సవం జరుగుతుంది. వెనుక వైపున భ్రమరాంబికాలయంతో పాటు - ఎడమ వైపున పార్వతీదేవి ఆలయం ఉంది. సంక్రాంతికి పార్వతీదేవి కల్యాణోత్సవం, శివరాత్రినాడు శ్రీభ్రమరాంబా కళ్యాణోత్సవం జరుగుతాయి. ఈ రకంగా ఒకే సంవత్సరం రెండు కళ్యాణోత్సవాలు జరిగే విశేషం దేశం మొత్తం మీద శైవ క్షేత్రాల్లో ఇక్కడే. "మల్లికార్జునస్వామిని చేతులతో తాకి పునర్జన్మ లేకుండా ముక్తిని పొందవచ్చు". "కాశీ క్షేత్రంలో మరణం, అరుణాచలంలో భగవన్నామస్మరణం, శ్రీశైలంలో దైవదర్శనం ముక్తిదాయకాలు". " శ్రీశైలం యొక్క శిఖర దర్శనమే సమస్త పాపహరణం జన్మరాహిత్య" మని వెదోక్తి . 3. మహాకాళేశ్వరుడు మధ్యప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రంలో ఇండోర్‌కి 80 కి . మీ దూరంలో ఉజ్జయిని నగరంలో క్షిప్రా నదీతీరాన " శ్రీ మహాకాళేశ్వర స్వామి " జ్యోతిర్లింగరూపమున దర్శనమిస్తారు. ఈ ఆలయం మూడు అంతస్తులుండి, ఏడు గోపురాలుండి, ఎంతో అద్భుతంగా ఉంటుంది. మొదటి అంతస్తులో మహాకాళేశ్వరుడు, రెండవ అంతస్తులో ఓం కారేశ్వరుడు, మూడ వ అంతస్తులో నాగచంద్రేశ్వరుడు కొలువై వుంటారు. ఈ మూడవ అంతస్తు మాత్రం నాగపంచమి నాడు మాత్రమే తెరిచి పూజాది కాలు చేస్తూవుంటారు. మిగిలిన రోజుల్లో ఈ అంతస్తు మూసివుంటుంది. ఇక ఈ ఆలయంలో 3 అడుగుల వ్యాసంతో 21/2 అడుగుల ఎత్తున్న జ్యోతిర్లింగే శ్వరుడు పశ్చిమ దిక్కుగా ప్రతిష్టితు డయ్యాడు. ఇక్కడ చితాభస్మంతో చేసే అభిషేకం చాలా ప్రాశస్య్తమైనది. పూర్వం ఒక సాధువు స్మశానం నుంచి చితాభస్మాన్ని తెచ్చి అభిషేకించి వెళ్ళిపోయేవాడట. ఆయనని ఎవరూ దర్శించలేకపోయారు. ఇప్పుడుడు మాత్రం ఇక్కడ అగ్నిహోమం లోనున్చి వచ్చిన భస్మంతో స్వామిని అభిషేకిస్తున్నారు. . ఇక్కడ తాంత్రిక విద్యలకి ఎక్కువ ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంది. అఘోరకులు, కాపాలికులు, తాంత్రికోపాసన చేస్తూ ఇక్కడ గుహలలో నేటికీ కనిపిస్తూంటారు. వీరిని చూడడానికి కొంత భయం కలుగుతుంది. వీరి ఉపాసనా చర్యలు కూడా మనకి భయం పుట్టిస్తాయి. 4. ఓంకారేశ్వరుడు ద్వాదశ జ్యోతిర్లింగాలలో నాల్గవది "ఓంకార లింగము". మధ్యప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రములో ఇండోర్ కు సుమారు 80కి.మీ దూరంలో "ఓంకారేశ్వర లింగము" ఉంది. దీనినే అమలేశ్వర లింగము అని కూడా అంటారు. పర్వతములన్నిటి యందు " మేరువు " అను పర్వతము గొప్పది. మేరువు మీద మంగళప్రదుడైన శివమూర్తి ప్రమధగాణాలతో గౌరీ సామేతంగ నివసించియున్నాడు. వింధ్యుడు అనే పర్వత రాజుకు మేరువ రాజుకు ఉన్నంత గొప్పతనము పొందవలెనని సంకల్పముతో, "ఓం నమః శివాయ" మంత్ర జపం చేయుట మిన్నునంట ఎత్తు పెరుగుచుండును. దీనిని చూచిన అగస్త్యముని చేయినడ్డుపెట్టి "వింధ్య రాజా! నేను కైలాసపతితో సంప్రదించి, నీకు ప్రసన్నుడగునట్లుగా చేయుదును. నీవు పెరగక నిలిచియుండు" అని చెప్పెను. అగస్త్య ముని పరమేశ్వరునితో "స్వామీ నీ అనుగ్రహమును సంపాదించుకోరి, వింధ్యా పర్వత రాజు మిన్నునంటగా పెరుగుచున్నాడు, అతని కోరికను ఫలింప జేయుము" అని ప్రార్ధించాడు. శంకరుడు వింధ్యునకు ప్రత్యక్షమై, వింధ్య పర్వతరాజు అభీష్టము అనుసరించి, ఆ పర్వతము పై సువర్ణ రూప లింగముగా వెలిశాడు.

ద్వాదశజ్యోతిర్లింగాలు (2) Posted: 31 Oct 2011 12:01 PM PDT 5. వైద్యనాధేశ్వరుడు పూర్వోత్తరే ప్రజ్వలికానిధానే సదా వసంతం గిరిజాసమేతం | సురాసురారాధితపాదపద్మం ష్రీవైద్యనాథం తమహం నమామి || బీహార్ రాష్ట్రములోని, బీడ్ జిల్లాకు 26కి.మి దూరాములో, పర్లి అనే గ్రామంలో వైద్యనాధేశ్వరుడు కొలువై ఉన్నాడు. ఈ గ్రామాన్నే కాంతిపూర్/మధ్యరేఖ వైజయంతి/ జయంతి అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. కన్యాకుమరి నుండి, ఉజ్జయిని కి ఒక రేఖను గీస్తే, ఈ పర్లి గ్రామం స్పష్టంగా ఆ రేఖపై కనిపిస్తుంది. మేరు/నాగనారయణ పర్వతాల కి దగ్గర్లో ఉంది ఈ గ్రామం. బ్రహ్మ, వేణు, సరస్వతి అనే నదులు ఇక్కడ మనకు కనిపిస్తాయి. మహా శివ భక్తుడైన రావణుడు, శివ అనుగ్రహం కోసం తపస్సు చేయసాగాడు. ఎండనక, వాననక సంవత్సరాలు తరబడి తపస్సు చేసినా ఆ భోళా శంకరుడు అనుగ్రహించలేదు. రావణుడు తన తలను శివునికి అర్పించాడు. ఆ సమయంలో భక్తవ శంకరుడు అనుగ్రహించి ఏం వరం కావాలో కోరుకోమన్నాడు, దానికి రావణు డు, "నిన్నే నా లంకకు తీసుకొని వెళ్ళి అక్కడ పూజించుకుంటాను, ఆ వరం ప్రసాదించు" అని కోరాడు. దానికి శివుడు, "నేను ప్రసాదించే లింగాన్ని నువ్వు తీసుకొనివెళ్ళు, ఎట్టి పరిస్థితులలో మధ్యలో కింద పెట్టవద్దు" అని హెచ్చరించాడు. శివ ప్రసాదంతో బయలుదేరిన రావణు డు, మర్గమద్యలో నదీ తీరంలో సంధ్యావందనం చేయతలచి, దగ్గర్లో ఓ బాలుడుని పిలిచి, తాను వచ్చేవరకు లింగాన్ని కింద పెట్టవద్దన్ని చెప్పి వెళ్ళాడు. రావణుడు అటు వెళ్ళగానే, ఆ బాలుడు రెండుసార్లు రావణుడిని పిలిచి, అతను రాకపోయేసరికి లింగాన్ని కిందపెట్టేసాడు. ఆ లింగమే వైద్యనాధేశ్వర లింగం. ఆ బాలుడేవరో కాదు, గణాధీశుడు. ఇంకో కథనం ప్రకారం. సాగరమధనంలో శ్రీమహావిష్ణువు అమృతమును, ధన్వంతరిని శివలింగంలో దాచాడు. ఆ లింగాన్ని తాకిన అసురులు, లింగం నుండి వెలువడే మంటల తాకిడికి తాళలేక పోయారు. అదే శివభక్తులు తసకితే లింగం నుండి అమృతం కురవ సాగింది. అందుకే ఈ లింగానికి వైద్యనాధేశ్వర లింగం/అమృతేశ్వర లింగమని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఇప్పటికీ ఇక్కడ ప్రతి ఒక్కరు లింగాన్ని త్రాకి భక్తితో పూజించుకుంటారు. 6. భీమశంకరుడు యం ఢాకినిశాకినికాసమాజె నిషేవ్యమాణం పిషితాషనైష్చ | సదైవ భీమాదిపదప్రసిద్దం తం షణ్కరం భక్తహితం నమామి మహారాష్ట్రంలో పూనె పట్టణానికి కొద్ది దూరంలో భీమానది తీరాన సహ్యాద్రి పర్వత శ్రేణిలో డాకినీ అనే అరణ్యంలో భీమశంకరుడు వెలిసాడు. త్రిపురాసురుడి ఆగడాలను అరికట్టడానికి శివుడూ రుద్రావతారుడైనాడు. శివునితో యుద్ధానికి పాల్పడిన త్రిపురాసురుడు, శివునిచే సం హరించబడ్డాడు. యుద్ధం చేసి అలసిన శంకరుడు ఎత్తైన సహ్యాద్రి పర్వతాలపైన విశ్రమించాడు. శివుని శరీరం నుండి స్వేద బిందువుల ధారే చిన్న కొలనుగా ఏర్పడింది. అక్కడనుండే భీమానది ఏర్పడింది అని పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. మరో కథనం ప్రకారం, పూర్వము కామరూప రాజ్యం నందలి "ఢాకినీ" అను ప్రదేశములో భీమాసురుడు అను రాక్షసుడు ఉండేవాడు. తన తల్లి కోరికపై బ్రహ్మ దేవుని గురించి తపస్సు చేసి, అనేక వరాలు పొంది, దేవేంద్రాదులను జయించాడు. భీమాసురుడు కామరూప రాజ్యముపై దండెత్తి, కామరూప రాజు సురక్షణను, అతని భార్య సురణాదేవిని బంధించెను. సురక్షణ, సురణాదేవి శివ భక్తులైనందున, వారు చెరశాలలో పార్ధివ లింగమును పూజించు చుండిరి. భీమాసురుడు శైవుడైనందు వలన రాజదంపతులను పరమేశ్వరుని సేవింపరాదని శాసించాడు. ఆ రాజదంపతులు భీమాసురునకు భయపడక, పరమేశ్వరుడిని పూజించిరి. భీమాసురుడు రాజ దంపతులను సంహరించుటకు తన కత్తిని ఎత్తాడు. అంతట పరమేశ్వరుడు ఆ మట్టి లింగము నుండి వచ్చి, భీమసురుడును సంహరించెను. రాజ దంపతులు పూజించిన ఆ లింగమును భీమశంకర లింగము అంటారు. 7. రామేశ్వరుడు తమిళనాడులోని రామనాధపురం జిల్లాలో రామేశ్వం వుంది. శ్రీరాముడు స్థాపించడంవలన ఇది రామేశ్వరమైంది. శివుని ద్వాదశ జ్యోతిర్లింగాలలో ప్రముఖమైంది. ఈ క్షేత్ర మహిమను స్కందపురాణం, రామాయణం, రామచరితమానస్, శివపురాణం మొదలగు గ్రంథాలుచె ప్తున్నాయ. లంకపైకి యుద్ధానికి వెళ్లేముందు శ్రీరాముడు ఇక్కడే శివపూజ చేసి ఆశీర్వాదం పొందాడు. రావణ సంహారం తర్వాత శ్రీరాముడు తిరిగి వచ్చేటప్పుడు సీతతో కలిసి ఇక్కడ పూజలు నిర్వహించాడు. హనుమంతుడు కైలాసంనుండి తెచ్చిన శివలింగం ఇక్కడే ప్రతిష్టితమైంది. లంకకు వెళ్లే వారధిని విభీషణునికి కోరిక మేరకు శ్రీరాముడు తన ధనస్సుతో ఛిన్నాభిన్నం చేసాడు. ఇదే స్థలంలో "ధనుష్కోటి" తీర్థం ఇప్పుడు జనులను ఆకర్షిస్తోంది. మహా శివరాత్రిలాంటిపర్వదినాలలో ఇక్కడ విశేష పూజలు నిర్వహిస్తారు. లక్ష్మణశిల, పంచముఖి హనుమాన్, శ్రీరామ-జానకీ మందిరాలు ఇక్కడ నెలవైయున్నాయ. గుడికి దగ్గరలో వున్న సముద్ర ప్రాంతంను అగ్ని తీర్ధము అంటారు. ఇక్కడ స్నానము చేసిన తర్వాతనే గుడికి వెళ్ళాలి. భారతదేశములో నాలుగు మూలల వున్న నాలుగు దామాలలో మొదటిది రామేశ్వరం. మిగతావి ద్వారక, పురీ జగన్నాధ్, బదరీనాధ్. 8. నాగేశ్వరుడు గుజరాత్ రాష్ట్రంలో ద్వారక నుంచి గోపితలావ్ వెళ్లే బస్సులో నాగనాధ్ వద్ద దిగి వెళ్ళవలెను. (గోమతి ద్వారక నుంచి సుమారు 14కి. మీ దూరము) చాలా చిన్న గ్రామం. దారుకావనమున తారకాసురుడు తన పరివారముతో నివసించి , ఆ వనమున పోవు ప్రయాణికుల ధనమును దోచి, నానాహింసలు పెట్టుచున్నారు. సుప్రియుడను వైశ్యుడు గొప్ప వ్యాపారి, గొప్ప శివ భక్తుడు. సుప్రియుడు వ్యాపార నిమిత్తం ద్వారకా వనమున పోవు చుండగా, తారకుని అనుచరులు సుప్రియుడును, అతని సిబ్బందిని బంధించుకుపోయి, కారాగారమున ఉంచిరి. మహా భక్తుడగు సుప్రియుడు శివలింగధారి, మెడయందున్న లింగమును తీసి, అరచేతి యందుంచుకుని, పూజ చెయుచుండెను. దానిని చూచిన రాక్షస సేవకులు తారకాసురుడుకు చెప్పిరి. తారకాసురుడు సుప్రియునితో "నీవు దైవారాధన చేయవద్దు" అని చెప్పినా, శివ పంచాక్షరీ మంత్ర జపము చేయుచున్న సుప్రియుడు సమాధానము చెప్పలేదు. తారకాసరుడు కోపామును పట్టలేక తన చేతిలోని గదచె సుప్రియుని తలపై కొట్టబోవునంతలో, శంకరుడు అక్కడనే జ్యోతి రూపమున ఆవిర్భవించి, తారకుని సంహరించెను. సుప్రియుడు కోరికపై దారుకా వనమునందే "నాగలింగేశ్వర" నామముతో లింగరుపము ధరించెను. ఈ ప్రదేశమున పూర్వకాలమున నాగజాతి ప్రజలు నివసించేవారు. కావున ఈ జ్యోతిర్లింగమునకు "నాగేశ్వర లింగము" అని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఈ గుడి నిర్మాణ తీరు వర్ణనాతీతం. పాండవకాలంలో చేసిన రాతి కట్టడం. నాలుగు స్థంబాల మీద నిర్మించిన ఈ గుడిలో, నాగేశ్వరుడు గర్భ గుడిలో పూజలందుకుంటాడు. ఇక్కడ చెప్పదగ్గ విశేషం ఎంటి అంటే, నందీశ్వరుడు మనకు శివునికి ఎదురుగా కనిపించడు. ఈ గుడి వెనుక వైపు నందీశ్వరునికి ప్రత్యేక దేవాలయం ఉంది. ఈ గుడికి చుట్టూరా 12జ్యోతిర్లింగాలను, 12దేవాలయాలలో ప్రతిష్ఠించి పూజిస్తున్నారు.

9. కాశీ విశ్వనాధుడు

ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రంలో వారణాసి (కాశీ) లో విశ్వేశ్వరలింగము ఉంది. కాశీ యాత్ర చేయనిదే స్వర్గద్వారాలు తెరుచుకోవని హిందువుల నమ్మకము. ఆలయ ప్రవేశము హిందువులకు మాత్రమే. కాశీలో 100 శివాలయాలు, 64 స్నాన ఘట్టాలు ఉన్నాయి. గంగానది ఉత్తరవాహినియై ప్రవహించు చున్నది. ఈ పుణ్య స్టలములోనే అశోకుడు నిర్మించిన సారనాధ స్ధూపం ఉంది.
వరుణ, అసి నదుల మధ్య ప్రదేశం కనుక ఇది వారణాశైంది. పార్వతీదేవి అన్నపూర్ణమ్మగా, విశాలాక్షిగా నివాసమేర్పరచుకున్న చోటు. అయ్యవారు విశ్వనాథుడై వెలసి విశ్వాన్ని శాసిస్తూ తరింప చేస్తున్న చోటూ ఇదే. ఆధ్యాత్మిక ఔనత్యంగల కాశీ పరమత సహనానికి ప్రతీకగా కనిపిస్తుంది. ఎందుకంటే విశ్వనాథ ఆలయానికి ప్రక్కనే దర్శనమిస్తుంది మసీదు. గుడిగోపురం, పై భాగాలను తొలగించి పవిత్రమైన ఆ పునాదులపై, కుడ్యాలమీదా ఔరంగజేబు మసీదు నిర్మాణం చేయించాడు. ప్రస్తుతం మనం చూస్తున్న విశ్వనాధాలయాన్ని 1780సం.లో హోల్కరుల వంశకీర్తి మహారాణి అహల్యాబాయి కట్టించింది.పూర్వం లంకకు రాజు విశ్రవసుబ్రహ్మ పెద్ద కుమారుడు వైశ్రవుడు (కుబేరుడు). సవతి తల్లి కొడుకు అయిన రావణుడు వైశ్రవుడును వెడల గొట్టి, లంకను ఆక్రమించెను. వైశ్రావణుడు విశ్వకార్మచే కాశీ నగరమును నిర్మాణమును చేయించుకొని, దీర్ఘకాలం తపస్సు చేశాడు. పార్వతి పరమేశ్వరులు సాక్షాత్కరించి, అలకాపుర పాలానాధికారము, మితిలేని ధనము, దిక్పాలకులందు స్దానాన్ని ప్రసాదించారు. వైశ్రవుడు కోరిక ప్రకారము అన్నపూర్ణ, విశ్వనాధ నామములతో కాశీలో వెలసినారు. కాశీ క్షేత్రము నందు మరణించిన వారికి కైలాసప్రాప్తి కలుగును. ఈ కాశీ పురమున అష్ట భైరవులు, నవ దుర్గలు, నవ గౌరీ దేవతలు, ఏకాదశ రుద్రులు, ద్వాదశాదిత్యులు, ఇరువది యిద్దరు విష్ణువులు, ఏబదియార్వురు గణాధిపతులు గల గొప్ప శివ క్షేత్రము . ఇక్కడ ఉన్న స్నాన ఘట్టాలలో పంచగంగా ఘాట్, సోమేశ్వర్ ఘాట్, దత్తాత్రేయ ఘాట్, కేదార ఘాట్, హరిశ్చంద్ర ఘాట్, మణికర్ణికా, దశాశ్వమేద ఘాట్ ముఖ్యమైనవి.

10. త్ర్యంబకేశ్వరుడు

మహారాష్ట్రా లోని నాసిక్ నుండి 25కి.మి దూరంలో, గౌతమీ నదీ తీరంలో త్ర్యంబకేశ్వరుడిని మనం దర్శించవచ్చు. గోహత్య పాతాకమంతరింపటకు గౌతమ మునీశ్వరుడు నాసికా క్షేత్రమున శంకరుడు గురించి తపస్సు చేసెను. శంకరుడు గౌతమ మునీశ్వరుని సంకల్పము నెరవేర్చుటకై నీటి బిందువును ప్రసాదించాడు. ఆ నీటి బిందువు మహానది రూపమున గోవు మరణించిన చోట నుండి ప్రవహించింది. ఆ నదికి గౌతమ పేరున "గౌతమి" గా పేరు వచ్చెను. ఆ క్షేత్రం యందు గౌతమ ముని కోరికపై శంకరుడు త్ర్యంబకేశ్వరస్వామిగా వెలిశాడు. ఈ క్షేత్రమున మశ్ఛీంద్ర నాధుని పాదుకలు, 108 మహాదేవుని లింగముల స్ధానం, గోదావరీ అమ్మవారి ఆలయం దర్శించదగ్గ ప్రసిద్ధమైనవి. ఇక్కడ త్రిమూర్తుల రూపం, బొటనువేలు ఆకారంలో, లింగరూపమున, దర్శనిస్తారు. భూమిలోనే శివలింగం ఇక్కడ మనకు దర్శనమిస్తుంది.


11. కేదారేశ్వరుడు

ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్‌లో , హిమాలయంలో "కేదార" అనే పర్వతం పైన కేదారేశ్వరుడు ఉన్నాడు. ఈ ప్రాంతం రూషికేష్ కు 250 కి. మీ దూరంలో ఉంది.
పూర్వము నరనారయణులు అను వారు తపస్సు చేసి, శివున్ని ప్రత్యక్షము చేసుకుని, కేదారలింగ రూపంలో వేంచేసి ఉండమని కోరారు. గంగాధరుడు అందుకు సమ్మతించి జ్యోతిర్లింగంగా వెలిశాడు. స్వయం ప్రకాశము గల కేదారలింగమును పూజించిన నరనారాయణులు ద్వాపర యుగమున కృష్టార్జనులై జన్మించారు. పాండవులు అరణ్యవాశము నందున్నప్పుడు కేదారలింగమును సేవించతలచి కేదారనకు వచ్చారు. శంకరుడు భీముని బలమును పరీక్షించుటకై మహిష రూపము ధరించి, పారిపోసాగెను. ఆది చూచిన భీముడు ఆ మహిషం వెనుక భాగాన్ని పట్టుకొని, మహేశ్వరుని అక్కడే ఉండమని ప్రార్ధిస్తాడు . భీముని బలము వలన మహిషం వృచ్ఛ భాగం మాత్రమే కేదారంలో ఉండిపోయింది. పాండవుల చెంతనుండక పారిపోయిన మహిష, నేపాళ రాజ్యమునకు పోయి, అక్కడే మహిష శిలాకారమున నిల్చింది.

12. ఘృశ్వేశ్వరుడు

ఔరంగాబాద్ (మహారాష్ట్ర) లోని దౌలతాబాద్ నుండి 11కి.మి దూరంలో ఘృష్ణేశ్వరుడు మనకు దర్శనిమిస్తారు. కుసుమేశ్వరుడు, ఘుష్మేశ్వరుడు, ఘృష్నేశ్వరుడు అనే నామాలతో సుప్రసిద్దుడు. అహల్యాబాయి హోల్కర్ ఈ గుడిని నిర్మించారు.
