Dear Builders of the Nation,
Here is the first mail about "I started to change -- I started questioning" movement. We shall talk about institutional change in a separate thread.
As we agreed that the change has to start from each individual, our thought process needs to change, we should start questioning every act of ourselves and what ever injustice that we see.
Everyone one of us in the meeting confessed our wrong doings in our day-to-day life and we all agreed to start correcting them.
The system is going to be binary; it's either 0 or 1, WRONG or RIGHT. There is nothing called 90% right etc....
Few common things that we can correct:
>> NO BRIBE in ANY FORM
1) I'm not going to pay bribe in any form to anyone under any circumstances for any transaction.
Students related:
1. It can be related to certificates for availing scholarships, for attendance or for any other issues
Employees/ Self run business:
1. It can be for LTA, medical bills, HRA or for submitting any other tax proofs. I will be submitting genuine proofs for all for financial dealings.
>> Traveling:
1) I'm going to travel only by fair means i.e, with a valid ticket/pass if by bus, by paying a legal fare (by meter) if I hire an auto/cab and by prescribed legal fare for all means of conveyance.
2) If I'm going by my own vehicle, I will follow all the traffic rules & go within the speed limits.
3) I will get all the required documents like driving license, RC, Insurance and wear helmet or seat belt at all times.
If I miss any, I will pay the fine legally by taking a receipt.
>> Buying
1) I'm going to take a valid bill (havingTIN ( Tax Identification Number )) for every rupee that I'm going to spend from now onwards whether it is from petrol bunks, retail shops or anything for that matter.
For above point, there can be few genuine exceptions where we are buying vegetbles etc from Rythu Bazaar, drinking coconut water etc
2) I'm not going to buy or utilize services of any shop that employs child (below 14 years) labour.
>> NO to piracy
1) I'm going to stop use of piracy CDs for watching movies/songs or for any other purposes.
2) I'm going to use only authorized licensed software (OS or anti-virus or gaming or any other software).
In this way, each one of us needs to identify 10 common mistakes we do and start correcting them.
@All,
Please add to the list whatever you feel like adding.

Dear Builders of the Nation,
Last Saturday we had a meeting to discuss about India Against Corruption Movement and how we can take this to the next level.
Participants: Phani, Vijaya, Mayur, Dr. Vijay, Vineeta, Suseela, Nagesh, Vikram, Ishan, Shravya, Sindhu, Nikhil, Shalini, Tejaswi, Krishna, Sandeep & Rajesh
Here is the MOM:
We discussed on few salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill which everyone either knows or can get from internet.
1. Can Jan Lokpal bill end corruption??: We discussed on whether Corruption will end just by Jan Lokpal Bill and concluded that having a bill is necessary but not sufficient to curb corruption. Corruption starts from the giver & not the receiver. Corruption is not just associated with Govt. bodies/politicians and not just related to money. Corruption is there in our thought process as well. A strong anti-corruption law coupled with people activism about various social issues (Citizen responsibilities & rights, Child rights, the people we elect to rule us etc ) is the need of the hour. In fact, no bill can stop anything until & unless everyone of us is socially active & responsible.
2. Is everyone supporting Jan Lokpal bill by candle light marches etc 100% clean? Not completely. Except for a few, many of them may still involve in corruption in some /other way.
3. How can we contribute to a 100% corrupt free
We all agreed to keep stringent efforts from now in the below two movements:
1. I started to Change... I started questioning -- Questioning myself & the system
2. Institutional Change -- -- By supporting the India Against Corruption movement for strong anti-corruption law where everyone is accountable to the public.
I will write in separate e-mails about the above two & the action plan going forward. As said earlier, we are going to involve everyone in this movement not restricting to any NGO or its members.
Everyone can be & needs to be a part of this movement to give your valuable suggestions to realize our vision of a Corrupt-free
We closed the meeting by taking a pledge that I'm going to change first and support the institutional change at the same time.
@Participants,
Please add if I have missed any.
@All,
Please give your valuable suggestions to take this movement forward.
