Doubts on RTI

Þ     Can I do my bit from Hyderabad or we need to stay in the same village to file an RTI?

 

We can file RTI to any department from anywhere in the country. Only condition is you need be citizen of India. Even there is no age limit also.

 

 

Þ     Can I send my RTI application through POST or need to handover directly by me or can anybody do it on my behalf?

 

If the office is near by you can submit by hand, else you can send by Post (Don’t use courier service). Because if tomorrow by any change the officer says they have not received your application you can file another RTI with postal department. Also you post the application using the speed post or Register post with acknowledgement. Anyone can submit the application on your behalf. If you are submitting personally they should submit in the INWARD section of that office (INWARD is the standard place in every office to accept complaints from public, RTI’s Couriers which are related to that office) and get acknowledgement on a photocopy (Xerox) of the application.
