Subject: An Alternate to Plastic
To: birdsofsamefeathers <birdsofsamefeathers@googlegroups.com>
Plastic, a substance which is highly pliable and cost-effective, has become integral to our daily existence. However, the substance poses a direct threat to the environment since it is non-biodegradable. While the users have found it difficult to discard plastic, environmentalists have cried hoarse over this issue. According to the manufacturers and developers of Roithane, this substance is 100% biodegradable, and is developed from food-grade vegetable oil.
"It is first time in the world that anyone has developed such a substance, and it will soon make plastic a thing of the past," said Anumod Gagan Sharma, director of Roidec India Chemicals, where the emulsion was developed. As of today, Sharma said, 40% of the world's plastic is being used for packaging purposes. "And that is why we have started supplying Roithane for commercial packaging of products," he said. Roithane, according to developers, mirrors all the basic properties of plastic, which make it useful for packaging and sealing purposes.
