Bhumika Women's Collective

Bhumika Women's Collective is the state level coordinating partner of Oxfam India which is anchoring the civil society alliance at the Andhra Pradesh state level and also undertaking various research activities on women related issues and legal provisioning and giving feedback to various related departments for supportive measures.

Objectives of Bhumika Women's Collective:

Ø      To support women by providing counsel in health, legal and psychological issues.

Ø      To support new methods of research towards understanding the various dimensions of women's issues.

Ø      To recover women's history, literature and art by supporting projects based on empirical research.

Ø      To create a common forum for networking among academician, activists and students from different fields by organizing discussions, seminars and workshops.

Ø      To study trends in mass media in relation to women's concerns by organizing film review discussions.

Ø      To build up a documentation center as a resource facility in pursuance of the above objectives.

Ø      To create awareness and educate women.

Bhumika Helpline

Bhumika Helpline supports the women in distress through telephonic counseling and linkage building.  Today "Bhumika" has become more popular for its toll free tele helpline 1800 425 2908 for women and in the process emerged as Advocacy organization at the state level.

Centre for Resource Facility (CSRF)

The research and advocacy issues are dealt by the unit of Bhumika Women's Collective, primarily known as Bhumika Civil Society Resource Facility (CSRF). Bhumika obtained a Circular copy from AP High court regarding the Security of Protection Officers under PWDV Act 2005. Under the CSRF activity another circular copy was posted to all Protection Officers issued by High Court regarding keeping a particular day for dealing and early disposal of cases filed under PWDV Act 2005.

Legal Aid Centre

On 23^rd October 2010 there has been an inauguration of our first Legal Aid Centre on the demand from the callers we get at our helpline. The callers asked for the provision of legal aid by the panel of advocates through face to face as they want to get the clarification of the doubts they have pertaining to the issue the caller faces. Depending on the request from the callers Legal Aid Centre was inaugurated by Sri V.Seetharama Avadhani, Secretary, A.P. High Court Legal Services Committee and the Chief Guest was Sri. G.B.V.S Nageswara Rao, Joint Secretary to Government, Law Department, A.P. Secretariat, Hyderabad.
