Before that please have a look at the below content:

"MANAVA SEVE MADHAVA SEVA"

We are very lucky to be human on this earth. Service has no limits. But most of us think that service is some what related to money. There by we will fix our minds to serve the needy only after earning money. God is really great; he has given a wonderful wealth to each and every human
i.e., a healthy body.

  •                 We can save hundreds of lives without giving a single Rupee.
  •                 Every human body consists of 5 liters of Blood.
  •                 Donating 350 ml out of 5 liters is not at all harmful, that tiny content will save a life.
  •                 We can donate 350ml of Blood to save a life. That blood will be re generated in our body with in 3 months.
  •                 Doctors will take blood only from a healthy body. So we need not worry about our health condition before
  •                 If we are healthy then only they will take blood.
  •                 If we have a kind heart that is enough to donate blood,
  •                 One should think like " I will always be fit and healthy, so that I can donate blood for every 3 months  and will save     many lives".
  •                 Please make blood donation as a habit.

WHAT IS THALASSEMIA:
Most of our physical characteristics are inherited through the genes we take from our parents; for example, the shape of our nose, the color of our skin and eyes. We also inherit our hemoglobin (Hb) type from our parents, through the genes.

Hemoglobin (Hb) is the substance in the blood which gives it its red color.  It carries the oxygen we breathe to all our body parts; it is vital for maintaining life. Without red blood cells, the body cannot function

Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body is unable to make adequate hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is present in the red cells and is made from proteins.  These proteins consist of alpha and beta chains. Normally 2 alpha and 2 beta chains are essential to form hemoglobin. Imbalances in these chains results in reduced red cell survival. The amount of beta and alpha chains a person makes is controlled by the hemoglobin gene they inherit from their parents.

Normally red cells survive for 120 days but in Thalassemia red cell survival is reduced.  Survival of Thalassemia patients depends upon repeated blood transfusion and costly medicines.

In our country beta Thalassemia is very common and the term Thalassemia denotes beta Thalassemia.

"Be a blood and organ donor. All it costs is a little love."
